Traces of the Trade

Traces of the Trade: A Story from the Deep North is our Emmy-nominated PBS documentary, produced and directed by Katrina Browne. The film features ten members of the DeWolf family of Bristol, R.I. and explores their family’s history of slave trading, as well as the legacy of slavery and slave trading in the northern United States.

We offer screenings of the film or portions of it, as well as programs with selected clips from the film to illustrate program content or to spark lively dialogue on race and privilege. We also offer individuals from the film as speakers and facilitators.
