Interview with Senator Williams for “Connecticut Matters”

This interview, with Connecticut Senate President Pro Tem Donald E. Williams, Jr., features filmmaker Katrina Browne and Executive Director James DeWolf Perry discussing the history of slavery in the North. The interview was filmed following their presentation for members of the Connecticut General Assembly at the State Capitol in Hartford in July 2012.

On Democracy Now! with Amy Goodman and Juan González

In this interview, Katrina Browne joins Amy Goodman of Democracy Now! who has been interviewing Craig Steven Wilder, the author of Ebony & Ivy: Race, Slavery, and the Troubled History of America’s Universities. Katrina talks about being a descendant of the nation’s leading slave-trading family, which motivated her to produce Traces of the Trade and to explore the historical involvement of U.S. families and institutions, North and South, in slavery. She also speaks about the stew of emotional issues that can come up for many white Americans in the course of addressing this history and its legacy today.

On New York’s NY1

This is a brief segment on NY1, the 24-hour news channel in New York City, featuring Katrina Browne and our Traces of the Trade. The segment previews our appearance at the United Nations for the International Day of Remembrance for the Victims of Slavery and the Transatlantic Slave Trade. Participating in the panel discussion from the Tracing Center were Katrina Browne, Executive Director James DeWolf Perry, Elizabeth Sturges-Llerena, and Tom DeWolf, and we were joined on the panel by Ambassador Raymond Wolfe of Jamaica.
